All Students start Year 9 by studying a unit called biomimicry. This unit gives students an opportunity to reflect on the content and skills that they have covers in Key Stage 3 science. It also helps them to discover how science is evolving and using nature to make our lives better. Throughout the unit student are encouraged to develop their practical and analytical skills ready for GCSE. An internal assessment at the end of this unit allows us to ensure that students are in the correct set to start their GCSEs
All students at Spalding Academy study AQA GCSE Combined Science: Trilogy. This is one of seven qualifications that AQA offer, it has been developed with teachers to inspire and challenge students of all abilities and aspirations.
It’s similar to the current Core and Additional Science GCSEs, and is a double award: equivalent to two GCSEs.
